Saturday 28th March 2015

A site-specific exhibition located in the Clapham Orangery portico on the Notre Dame Estate, Clapham.

The exhibition features a range of site-specific artwork, conforming to ideas of concealment. From performance and sculpture to video and installations, the art responds to the unique architecture of the orangery. The exhibition aims to encourage the currently unused, historical site as a place of creativity.

"Pedestals… mediate between actual site and representational sign."

-Rosalind Krauss, Sculpture in the Expanded Field

Directly imposing the art onto the site, without the use of plinths and pedestals, allows the works to sit modestly in the portico, as if camouflaged within the space.

Sight Specific features the work of Annabel Duggleby, Christopher Beattie, Corie McGowan, Gen Doy, Kirsty Tinkler, Noot.Club, Ramona Zoladek, and Rebecca Brennan. Kirsty Tinkler’s sculpture In An Order will remain at the site until the 3rd April.

Curated by Sophie Bownes, Charlotte Bradley, Amy Scott-Pillow, Jamie Ashley, and Kathleen Rutherford; BA (Hons) Fine Art students at University for the Creative Arts, Farnham.
